  • Make Your Own Materials Homework

Create the first batch of materials for your character. Later, Antonio will show breakdowns of specific costume parts and props, but now is your chance to use what you’ve learned about material creation to experiment and make things of your own!

Beginner Path: You can follow the materials Antonio created for his character, but you’re also encouraged to experiment with creating your own materials. This is a great chance to practice with less pressure.

Hybrid Designer & 3D Character Artist: Even though you’re working on a different design, many aspects of Antonio’s materials will likely overlap with things your character needs. This could be an entire material, or just a small aspect of the weathering or deformation. Feel free to pick apart Antonio’s work and use what you need.

  • Final Materials Homework

Use the lessons you’ve learned, and the experience you’ve gained through experimentation, to finish creating all your character’s materials. Make sure everything is up to the same standard of detail, and works well for the character as a whole.

After the materials are finished, export an Iray render, and then export all your textures. Ensure that the textures are properly named, organized and sized, so that you will be able to smoothly move into presentation in the next lesson.
