Lesson Overview
Initial Materials
Lesson 4 of 8 Starship Design
Now you will create a base material for your ship, and begin adding in realistic imperfections like dirt, scratches and more.
Adding Materials Homework
Create the UV maps for your starship model, then create your base material and any lights you might need. Take your time with this part of the process, because clean work here will help a lot in the next stage. Finally, export your 3D model.
Initial Setup Homework
Using your rendering software of choice, set up a simple lighting environment, then build an early version of your materials.
Imperfections & Alterations Homework
Now it’s time to add in various details to your ship like dirt, edge tear, scratches and more. Try to keep the practical usage of your starship in mind, in order to build the most realistic details possible.
