You will now create a set of 3D assets to populate your scene, based on what is laid out in your composition sketches.

Lesson 3 Assignments0 of 4 Assignments Completed
  • Natural Terrain Assets Homework

In this assignment, you can take one of two paths, depending on the needs of your artwork. If your scene requires unique terrain assets that can’t be found easily online, create your own set of terrain assets in 3D. If your scene calls for more traditional terrain, you can source your terrain assets through photobash kits. Or you can use a combination of both methods, creating a few custom assets and sourcing others. Keep the needs of your project in mind, and do what works best for your artwork!

  • Small Detail Assets Homework

Model any small assets that you want to create separately from their larger structures. This could be anything you feel needs to be modular and versatile, from windows and doors to columns and pipes. Make sure to create at least two variations to cut down on repetition.

  • Architectural Assets Homework

Create any architectural assets needed for your image. Pieces you plan to repeat can be built in a modular way to allow for easier placement in the composition later.

  • Remaining Assets Homework

Create any further assets that will be needed for your scene. Then add detailed textures to everything you’ve modeled during this lesson, using the methods Marco demonstrated in this chapter.
