The 10 Principles of Motion Design

Lesson 2 of 4 Motion Design

While conventional animation may have 12 basic principles, Jorge believes this can be consolidated to only 10 for motion design. Get a firsthand look at each of these 10 Principles of Motion Design, all conveyed through simplistic example animations, before learning the various tools of Adobe After Effects to implement them.

    1. Get familiar with After Effects and create a simple 5 second animation in it. Use as many principles as you can, and use more than one property (scale, position, rotation, etc.).

    2. Start gathering ideas for concepts for the short animation we'll start in the next lesson. Write down ideas or quotes you would want to animate.
