Thurlow Jacobson's Homework
// Detail Distribution //
// Detail Distribution //
I realized very early on in this assignment that I gave myself an extra layer of challenge by choosing a shape that is made of four separate shapes. Nonetheless, I wanted to give it a try, as the rules of detail distribution (1/3 and 2/5 detail fill) still apply. I was fairly happy with how the first shape split into thirds turned out, even though the details are not perfect, the distribution of them is somewhat aligned to the rule. I was content with the new shapes born from the original, one of them reminds me of a robotic hummingbird wing. I was far more pleased with the second shape attempt where two fifths of the shape is filled with detail. I spent more time creating interesting yet cohesive elements that added to the shape's overall purpose. For instance, it looks like the differently colored panels are being held together by these industrial, round, clasps - or they are pinned down by round metal screws. Although I probably won't use these shapes as assets in the future, I found this exercise incredibly beneficial. I will take this way of thinking and apply it to any project I am working on - and continue to practice this fascinating new technique.
